Eastgate is a vibrant Grand Rapids community just south of East Grand Rapids. The community flourishes with a variety of homes, churches, and winding streets with sidewalks. The neighborhood has an active Association that helps provide fun events. This neighborhood is also commonly referred to as Breton Village and in the early 1900’s was known as Paris Township. It’s boundaries were East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids. It was a rural area until  the early 1960s where farms were frequently spotted along the main streets.

In the early 1960’s the cities of Kentwood and Grand Rapids annexed the remaining areas of Paris Township and the neighborhood we now call Eastgate was created. In 1990 the Eastgate Neighborhood Association was created. It’s been an active and growing neighborhood since its establishment.

Eastgate is one of several neighborhoods that fall just outside the hustle and bustle of Grand Rapids business districts and East Grand Rapids, making this an ideal location for families who want to be near all the action of downtown while still having easy access to shopping, community centered activities and space for the family to play.
